Berlin UrbX 2017 Large Format Photography Workshop

I invite large format photographers from all over the world to join this visual exploration of Berlin during three days in November 2017. We will work slowly together at several interesting areas and spots for photography and create imagery of urban landscapes and city life. [Berlin, November 21–23, 2017]

During this workshop you will get an opportunity to challenge your own creativity and technique when working with large format camera. At the end of the workdays you can handle your exposed sheets to Viertel Vor 8 laboratory for processing and contact sheet printing. Or you can develop your material yourselves. We start every morning with breakfast at the hotel and go on discussing yesterday´s photos.

Level: Intermediate. You have to know the basic operation of your camera and some years of photographic experience. Basic concepts within composition should be familiar to you.

Aim

  • To create a workspace for enthusiastic large format photographers whose ambition is to improve their creative skills.
  • To inspire you to work even better with lines, light and space in photography.

What to expect: You will meet a dedicated photographer and instructor that shares all of his photographic knowledge from sunrise to sunset and beyond.
What I expect: You are an enthusiastic student that involves and shares in the group of participants. You have a genuine will to improve your artistic skills within photography.

Dates: November 21 to 23, 2017. The workshop starts at 9 AM on November 21.

Cost

  • €475. (Early Bird Price is €425) Includes tuition. Travel, accomodation, meals, photographic materials and processing must be covered by participants themselves. (Payment processing fees may be added to the workshop fee.)

Acommodation

  • I recommend all participants from outside Berlin to accomodate themselves at Hotel Ellington.
  • Every workshop day will start and end at the Hotel. Every night we will have dinner togheter at the hotel.

Travel

  • Participants must book and pay travel themselves.

Processing

  • In order to make our workshop reach its aims, participants should leave their exposed material to the Viertel Vor 8 laboratory for processing. http://www.vv8.de/
  • Of course, you can process your films (or glass plates og tintypes) yourself.

The workshop is sponsored by Lotus View Camera, Austria. Participants will have the opportunity to work with a Lotus Rapid Field 8x10” camera during the workshop.
